1) What is your full name please? And How may I call you?

My full name is Ishita Sharma, but you can call me Ishita.

2) Does your name have a special meaning?

Yes, it does. My first name Ishita means “desire or greatness”. It was given to me by my Aunt.

3) Do you like your name? And will you change it in the future?

I quite like my name, Ishita, and I don’t feel the need to change it in the future. My name is a part of my identity and I worked so hard to build it.

4) What would you like to change about your personality?

I definitely stress more. I always worry too much about things. At school, I got very tense before the exams and now I have peer pressure and work duties. This is something that I would like to change about me.

Well, Chandigarh is a middle-sized city – it’s the capital of the northern Indian states of Punjab and Haryana. Chandigarh is the best-planned city in India, with architecture which is world-renowned, and a quality of life, which is unparalleled.

10) What’s the most interesting part of your hometown?

Well, that’s a tough question because there isn’t just one nice place in my city. For me, the Chandi Mandir, a temple dedicated to the goddess that is located near the town of Mani Majra, is the most interesting.

11) Is your hometown a good place for young people?

I think it’s a great place to study because we have some good high schools and pretty gooduniversities. In addition, Chandigarh is a shoppers hub and a perfect blend of urban lifestyle.

12) Has your hometown changed in recent years?

Yes, definitely! The city has modernized a lot in the last 10 years. So now there are plenty of new buildings and new residential areas everywhere. City has been continuously expanding and big malls are adding every day.

13) Does your family still live there?

Yes, they do. Most of my relatives still live in my hometown. This is why I go back there as often as possible.

Yes, definitely. It’s a great place to live. The neighbourhood is very pleasant with plenty of shops and restaurants around the place. There’s also a nice park just 2 minutes away.

17) What is the neighbourhood like where you live?

It’s a pleasant neighbourhood. There are plenty of shops and restaurants everywhere. From our house, it’s like a five-minute walk to the supermarket. It’s extremely convenient.

18) What kind of house or apartment would you like to have in the future?

Well, I would love to own a penthouse in the future, just like what I’ve seen on TV in Westerncountries. In India, we don’t have enough space to build large private individual houses, especially in the cities. So pretty much everyone gets to live in apartment buildings.

Well, yes, it’s brilliant!. The university has a pretty good reputation in India. Obviously it’s not one of the best colleges in the nation, but it has a good reputation in Engineering and Management, and I have learned a lot already.

My major is Software development, but due to lack of technical exposure here in India, I would like to explore American computer education in the future.

22) Which part of your studies do you find most interesting?

I enjoy studying programming, probably because I get good results in this subject. I don’t find it too hard. It seems to come to me pretty naturally.

23) Do you often get together with your classmates after class?

Yes, almost every day. We often go for a walk and buy some snacks after. On weekends, we play football in the community garden. All in all, I enjoy hanging out with my classmates.

It really depends on where you are. You know how huge India is. So every area offers distinct types of cuisine. The coastal regions are usually big on sea food – fish and shrimps, and crab, anything from the ocean. In the North, people tend to eat spicy food, with lots of pepper.

31) Is it usual for the whole family to eat together in your country?

Yes, definitely. Having dinner together is very common in India. In fact, it’s a tradition families usually pay a lot of attention to this.

32) What are some of the benefits of eating home-cooked food?

Well, obviously the food is hygienic and healthy and because it’s prepared with love, home-cooked food always tastes better!

33) What do you think about fast food?

So, if we are talking about KFC and McDonald’s,although the burgers are appetizing, they’re full of unhealthy ingredients and full of calories.This is why we call it junk food.

44) If you had more free time, what would you do?

I would like to exercise more often. I wish I had more time to play football, and maybe join the gym to work out. Plus, I aspire to travel the world in my free time.

45) What would you like to change about your daily routine?

I guess I should try to get to bed earlier, and get up earlier too. I play computer games late at night sometimes. So I think I should focus on other things as well.
